Although this has an interesting name, it is an amazing treat! This is a recipe my family has been using for years, and it truly gives the best results for the best morning treat. Of course I have this every once and awhile, but it is something I look forward to every time!

You will need

A four quart pan

A blender

One cup of milk

One cup of flour

One-third (1/3) a cup of salted butter (it will show the measurement of 1/3 cup on the side of the packaging for a stick of butter, cut the butter at the 1/3 line)

four eggs (large or extra large eggs work best).

Let's get to the good stuff…

How to make it

Heat the oven on bake to 425 degrees and put the rack in the center. Put the 1/3 cup of butter in the pan and wait until everything is prepped and the oven is at 425 degrees. Crack four eggs and put the eggs in the blender, but don’t turn the blender on. Get the one cup of milk and one cup of flour ready to put in the blender. Use a measuring cup to do this evenly.

Once the oven is at 425 degrees, put the pan with the butter into the oven and let it sit for a few minutes or until the butter has started melting in the pan. Start the blender on high and let the eggs mix for 35 seconds. After 35 seconds you slowly pour the cup of milk into the blender, then very slowly put the flour into the blender and let all the contents mix for 45 seconds, making sure that the flour is completely mixed in.

While the blender is still running, pull the pan out of the oven and move the butter around the pan, coating the entire bottom of the pan. Put the pan on the counter, turn off the blender, then pour the contents into the pan, coating the entire bottom of the pan. Once the contents are in the pan, take the pan and put it in the center of the rack. Set your timer for 25 minutes. Be sure not to open the oven door during cooking.

When the timer goes off, check to make sure that the edges of the crust look lightly/slightly browned. If it looks lightly/slightly brown along the edges, pull it out and cut into four slices.

To serve it, be sure to use syrup or a nice jam or preserve. You could also make some bacon and have that as a side. The bacon flavor goes really well with the Dutch Baby Pancake. This is an amazing breakfast, so enjoy!!

Fact of the week:

(“When You Eat An Egg Are You Eating A Baby Chick?”)

Answer: When the egg first forms it's only one cell, and is fertilized as it moves down the oviduct to be laid.... Hens lay eggs with or without a rooster present. Without a rooster to fertilize the egg, it will never become a chick. I also found this of interest. Also eggs sold commercially are not fertilized, so no babies are being eaten.
