The entire world has shut down for everyone’s safety; this means major tourist attractions are or have been closed and people are no longer leaving their homes to visit what used to be exciting and famous locations. It has been fascinating watching cities that used to be filled with noise become quiet. Here are five examples of what used to be the normalcy used to look like, and what normalcy has become.
1. Paris, France
Seven million people visit the famous Champs Elysees per year, rounding to about 300,000 people per day.
2. Tokyo, Japan
Shibuya Street Crossing is known as the world’s busiest intersection and is a must-visit location during your time in this city. Similarly to Paris’ Champ Elysees, Shibuya Street Crossing has been left deserted.
3. New York City, The United States
All Broadway productions have hit the pause button, and so has New York’s famous Broadway Street.
4. Rio de Janerio, Brazil
Christ the Redeemer is one of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic tourist attractions. During special occasions or to honor a person, the statue is lit up. Currently, the statue is lit up to resemble a medical worker to honor those who have been saving lives by risking their own.
5. Agra, India
Four million people visit the Taj Mahal per year. However, during 2020 the number of visitors this year will certainly drop because it is no longer welcoming visitors during this time.
